Photographs of the Withamside Churches

We are blessed with several beautiful churches dating back to the 12th century in our villages. These buildings / monuments justify being celebrated both for their ecclesiastical heritage and architectural beauty.  This page displays a series of photographs of the outside of these churches.  The churches also have many beautiful and historic features inside.  There is a website showing some of the internal features and providing historical background to St Michael's in Bassingham.

The six churches periodically hold a combined festivals when they are all open over a weekend with various displays on view.  An account with images of the six churches 1999 festival  (including the "Plough Jag") is available on a website.  The Methodist Chapel with the old school house at its rear (now the Heritage Room) in Bassingham High Street is also a fine example of Victorian architecture.

You may have better photographs or some showing different aspects of these fine buildings.  If so the Witham Staple invites you to submit them for possible inclusion on his page. Please send images by e-mail to info@withamstaple.com as digital files (maximum size 100kb) in .jpeg format or contact the Web Editor about having printed originals scanned.

Decisions on which photographs to include here will depend upon space and content and be made by the web editor.
