Christingle Service A big thank you to everyone who supported the Christingle service on Sunday 27th November we raised £173.55 in aid of the Children’s Society.

Halfway Home Dog Rescue. Thank you to everyone who came along to our Christmas fun day in early December. It was lovely to see so many people, both old and new friends and for us to see so many of the dogs that we’ve rehomed come back to say hello, all looking so happy and well.

We always have lots of lovely dogs looking for new homes, have a look on our website www.halfwayhome-dogrescue.org. We raised £1,549 a fantastic total thank you. I can promise that we will put it to very good use. Best wishes to all our supporters for a Happy and Healthy new year.

Peter Harrison, Hall Wath, Bassingham (48). Having battled against a brain tumour for almost 15 months Peter sadly passed away on the 7th December and the celebration of his life was held at Bassingham church on the 19th December. Peter had a great philosophy on life and that was to live it to the full and try to have no regrets. Even when he was very ill he tried to do this but often needed help from friends and family. I would like to say a heartfelt thanks to all the people of Bassingham, together with our friends and family from across the Country, who went out of their way to help Peter achieve this. Thanks also to all the doctors and nurses from various organisations who supported us and ensured that Peter could spend his last few weeks at home, for whom donations at Peters funeral raised the sum of £55 for Marie Curie cancer care, £426 for Beaumond House at Newark and £571 for Macmillan Nursing. Thanks also to the Reverend Canon Nick Buck for allowing us to make it a slightly unusual celebratory service. Peter will leave a huge hole in people’s lives, especially mine, but please remember his motto – ‘Life is too short, Live it to the full and don’t waste a single second – no regrets!’ Many thanks Tony.

Thanks to Alan Bradley, butcher from Brant Broughton who has given an excellent service for 34 years. Best wishes for a happy retirement. Helen Ash.

1st Bassingham Scout Group. The Cub Post was another success this year and we raised £110 for the group thank you to all who supported the service.

Alan Bradley, Family Butcher based in Brant Broughton, finally hung up his knives on 31st December after 50 years of trading. Alan has provided a local service including home delivery to the surrounding villages for more than 34 years and would like to take the opportunity of thanking all his customers for their loyalty and support over the years and would also like to take the opportunity of wishing them all a very Happy New Year!!

Christmas Lunch A big thank you from Eleanor, Byron, Audrey, Janet and Keith to all the people who were involved in making the Christmas Lunch in Carlton le Moorland Village Hall a huge success. Special thanks to Jackie, Andy and Sue. We would also like to send our congratulations to all the villagers involved in the making of the new pathway.

Norton Disney Village Hall Christmas Fayre

Once again we welcomed many friends and neighbours to our Fayre. The Hall was beautifully decorated and the atmosphere warm and friendly. There were many festive stalls and games to keep everyone occupied and the aroma of the mulled wine set us off in the true feeling of the Season. Many thanks again to all who supported us either by donations or attending on the night. A grand total of £626.13 was raised for Hall funds. Happy New Year everyone.

Father Christmas thanks all those who invited him to their parties and is delighted to be able to tell you that he raised over £80 for the Village Hall Charity.

1st Bassingham Guides. A big thank you to all those who welcomed the Guides on their pre-Christmas carol singing evening around Bassingham. On what was probably the coldest night of 2011 we sang at various houses around the village and in some cases our audience braved the elements too. We had a fun time and raised £34 for club funds. Many thanks. Incidentally if anyone reading this would like to be involved in a more practical way we are always looking for more adult helpers. Contact either Becky on 01636 894215 or Sarah on 789649 for further details.
