Carlton
le Moorland & District Art Group
Contact: Mrs J Morgans Tel: 788137
website: www.carltonlemoorlandart.com
The group was formed in Carlton-le-Moorland in 1989 by the late Arthur Waller and by his wife Sheila and now has about eighty members drawn from many local villages and nearby towns.
We meet on the third Thursday evening of most months of the year, in Carlton-le-Moorland village hall, to enjoy demonstrations of widely varying aspects of art by visiting artists locally, nationally and sometimes internationally known. Such meetings allow members to get together, to borrow art magazines, videos and dvds (from an excellent selection) and to receive information on forthcoming local and national art events. For a small charge non-members are always welcome at these meetings.
Each year the group organizes several workshops year tutored by differing artists using a variety of media. We also organize regular coach trips to places of interest/exhibitions and have recently visited Oxford, Salford Quays, York and London.
The group’s annual exhibition, held in the village hall in October, has become a significant event in Lincolnshire’s art scene. It is visited regularly by several hundred people and the group takes great care to present such events on a professional scale offering visitors good information, comfort, excellent refreshments and visual delight.
During most weeks of the year, on Thursday mornings from 10am to 1pm, members may enjoy a working session at the village hall, essentially on a “do your own thing” activity. A small charge is made to cover the cost of the hall and refreshments – again non-members are made welcome. Indeed anyone visiting any of the group's activities will invariably find a very warm and friendly atmosphere.

Bassingham Mosaic Group
Bassingham Mosaics Group The Mosaics Group is still meeting on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9pm in the Day Room at the Bassingham Care Centre. The Day Room is entirely separate from the main Care Centre building, so if you were interested in joining us, or just visiting to see what we're working on, you won't be disturbing the Centre's residents. We completed the Group project of a centrepiece for the floor of the new Community Hall at Hill Holt Wood and Nigel Lowthrop was very pleased with the result. We're now concentrating on individual projects in glass, making mosaic mirrors and smaller items such as Christmas decorations and gifts.

The mosaic group was responsible for creating the distinctive wall mosaics dotted around Bassingham in the mid-1990s.
Yes, we’re still doing mosaics! We meet regularly every Tuesday evening from 7pm to 9pm in the Heritage Room, and also do stained glass work. We are all working on individual projects, and manage to chat, and also break for a ‘cuppa’ as well. We have a group project in the offing that is in the very earliest of stages. You’re welcome to visit, to see just what we’re doing, and perhaps you’ll like it enough to join our group.
