Details of Community Parish Councils & their Meetings

If parish councils would like to send copies of their forthcoming meeting agendas, latest minutes of meetings or notices these will be included on this page. Please e-mail them to: info@withamstaple.com .

"Our parish councils are the first tier of local government in this country and form an integral part of our structure of democratic governance. Their work is rarely glamorous and often concerned with tedious detail, and yet it often impacts directly on the community where we live. Parish councillors are elected to work on our behalf but they can only do so effectively if we give them our support. Just as they need to keep us informed on the issues coming before them and the decisions they take, so ought we to help them by showing a concern for what they do. One of the best ways to do this is to attend the monthly meetings of our parish council whenever we can. Our responsibility doesn’t end simply when we vote!"

Found!!

White carrier bag under front garden hedge, contains dog feces

Available for collection, culprit will recognise bag!!!

It would appear that there are a minority of dog owners who hold no regard for the village of Carlton le Moorland or its inhabitants. Unfortunately it does not stop with animal mess as the edge of the village is also becoming a dumping area for unwanted builders rubble and garden waste.

Public Notice: Parking on Grass Verges and Driving on Pavements in Witham St Hughs [Nov 2011]

The Parish Council has been receiving many complaints about residents parking on pavements and grass verges around the village. There are many alternative parking spaces near our properties and shops, so please park thoughtfully and with care.

Parking on grass verges causes damage at cost to the Parish Council and residents are politely requested to not park their vehicles on grass verges. Offenders will receive a warning notice from NKDC and if they continue to park there, the Parish Council reserves the right to request monetary reimbursement for the cost of replacing the damaged grass.

In addition to this, driving over pavements to access grass verges, or to park outside the shop, or your home, is dangerous and causes a nuisance - and sometimes an obstruction - to other residents. When parking on the road, please make sure that dropped kerbs where people can cross the road safely are not blocked and that emergency vehicles and rubbish collection vehicles have clear access. The police have the power to issue tickets for any vehicle causing an obstruction.

Thank you for your co-operation Witham St. Hughs Parish Council

How the Parish Council is run for those not familiar with how we work.

The Parish Council is made up of local people, all of whom live in Witham St Hughs. We meet once a month, but often spend extra time discussing village issues. All of which we do on a voluntary basis.

The Councillors come from all 4 corners of the village, which means that every part of the village is represented. We welcome all residents’ views. Regular topics of discussion on the agenda include shops, village hall, sports facilities, parking, safety and general village maintenance issues and of course dog fouling!

Parish Council meetings include a short open forum at the beginning (from 7 until 7.15pm) in which you are welcome to give your views and suggestions or ask any questions. Sometimes we may not have the correct information to answer your question at the meeting but if you contact the Parish Clerk beforehand, we may be able to add this to our Agenda for discussion or at least come prepared with some information for you.

Details of our meetings (Dates, Agendas, Minutes etc) are always on the village notice boards, which are situated on Nettleton Drive, Pendred Avenue and in the bus shelters on Hedge Lane and Warren Lane.

Should you not be able to find them you can call Sue, our Parish Clerk, on 869451. Your views or questions are also welcome by letter or email to the Parish Clerk, who ensures that they are seen by all Councillors and responded to.
